Scent Drag Training with the Puppy Pack
Watch me introduce my puppies to a bobcat scent drag and the GPS tracking collar.
Now that I introduced my puppy pack in my last series of posts, I can finally start sharing all the videos I’ve been making about them.
About a month ago, I took the puppies plus Coulee and Roux out for some scent drag training. I made a scent stick as described on the Big Game Houndsmen Forum and used a fresh jar of bobcat gland scent I bought from Double U Hunting Supply.
Coulee and Roux had both only been on a handful of scent drags—mostly at the field trials—so I wasn’t expecting too much out of them. My conclusion is that the scent drags are not the same as the real thing, and I think my dogs would agree. It was also the puppies’ first exposure to a scent drag and overall, I’m very pleased with how they did!
You’ll have to watch the video to see how it all went, check it out on YouTube:
Side note: Before I was posting the videos here on Hound on the Run, but I really want to grow my YouTube channel and as silly as it might sound, I need all the views, likes, and subscribes I can get! Come on people, help me and my hounds go viral!!
Let me know what you think in the comments. Also, if you have any tips or tricks for laying scent drags with bobcat gland scent, please let me know. This was my first time working with the stuff and was honestly not what I was expecting.
I hope everyone is having a great season. See ya later!

P.S. Did you know I wrote a book about my bobcat hunting adventures? It’s called Cat Dog Chronicles and I wrote it to share my journey with both other hound hunters and non-hunters alike. Fellow hunters — I know you’ll find it entertaining and relatable … But if you’ve never been hound hunting but are curious about what it’s really like, my personal story will give you a glimpse into this complex sport and show that it’s not as easy as you might think!
